JJ wrote an e-book called The Late-Round Quarterback in 2012. And it changed his life.
That document led him to a job at numberFire, where he helped build the site’s content business from the ground up. numberFire was later bought by FanDuel in 2015, and he went on to spend years as the company’s Editor-In-Chief. There, he developed one of the most popular podcasts in the fantasy football industry. He eventually left the gig to start Late-Round Fantasy Football in January of 2022.
JJ’s now talked to an audience of fantasy football diehards for more than a decade. He’s met lifelong friends, won Fantasy Sports Writers Association awards, and worn gym shorts nearly every day of his 13-year career as a fantasy analyst.
When JJ’s not shouting into his microphone about fantasy football, he’s hanging out with his wife and two kids or riding his Peloton. Just not at the same time. He’s a born and raised Yinzer who now calls Charlotte, North Carolina his home.
In 2012, David won a daily fantasy sports (DFS) contest called “The Worm.” From those winnings, he dove right into the world of fantasy sports.
From selling customizable fantasy football draft boards to flying all over the place as a “DraftKings Pro,” Kitchen immersed himself in fantasy sports media. He hosted shows for DraftKings, RotoGrinders, and SiriusXM, and would eventually start Fantasy Insiders. FI was a DFS site (a few shows even featured JJ!) that would be acquired by RotoGrinders in 2017, where he worked for over eight years.
While David hosts just one show these days (The Swolecast), he loves the business side of fantasy sports and building relationships within the industry.
When he’s not analyzing fantasy sports, he’s fully embracing life as a girl dad of three and devoted husband. A Nashville native through and through, he experiences the highs of sports by coaching basketball and the mostly lows of being a Titans and Vandy fan.
